Optibeets are rapidly swelling beet pulp flakes made from desugared and processed sugar beet fibers. The non-woody plant cells make them a high-quality feed for horses, delivering roughly the same digestible energy as grain flakes.
This calm form of energy from highly digestible fiber doesn’t make horses hyperactive. Optibeets can be fed to any horse. Since they contain no starches like those found in grain flakes, Optibeets are suitable for horses with Cushing’s, laminitis, tying-up, etc. Their extremely low glycemic response also makes them ideal for endurance horses.
- Highly caloric – for training and competition
- Electrolyte and water storage
- Ideal for endurance
- Suitable for young horses (fewer joint issues like OCD)
- Sales prepping (auction/show conditioning)
- Low in carbohydrates – suitable for horses with tying-up, PSSM, or metabolic syndrome
- Suitable for HYPP (Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis) due to very low potassium (<1%)
- For “hot” horses
- Ideal for weight gain in thin and/or older horses
Notice
Optibeets must NOT be fed dry, but must first be swollen in around 2 to 3 times the amount of warm water, if possible!
This process takes a maximum of 5-10 minutes.
